Current Research:

Military grants and applications, Finite Element Model of the F-35 Ejection Seat. Co-Investigator.

The aim of this proposal is to demonstrate the feasibility of developing a finite element model of the F-35 ejection seat with a human occupant for spinal injury prediction. The Finite Element Methods [FEM] model should stimulate the dynamic response of the human crewmember ejection at various scenarios using different human weights. The goal is to determine whether spinal injury predictions can be made during seat ejection under different conditions.


Research experience:

Interests in musculoskeletal and neurological disorders associated with functional deficits, worked on principles of the Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) in chronic stroke survivors.

Expanded experience in basic research in Allergy and Immunology. Previous training investigating the pathophysiology of paranasal sinus disorders and the immunologic basis of interplay between allergic rhinitis and sinusitis, other studies on the neuropharmacological control of the nasal mucosa.

Other interests include development of a protocol for assessment of spasticity utilizing electromyography, grants submitted for evaluation of static magnetic field in pain associated with Median mononeuropathy.


Teaching and Administrative Experience:

-Preceptor to rotating medical students from Wayne State School of Medicine, Rehab institute of Michigan, Xavier University School of Medicine and the University of South Carolina.
-Chief resident’s responsibilities for UC PM&R training program and the affiliated committees, including formulating rotation syllabus, new resident’s interviews, rotations, grand rounds and scheduling lectures.
-Teaching responsibilities and affiliate with medical student’s education for the University of Cincinnati, University of South Carolina and Xavier University School of Medicine.
-Administrative responsibilities including creating and implementing in-service didactics to nursing staff and therapists in rehabilitation and outpatient settings.
